The Harriet Hancock LGBT Center
Named after the longtime activist and co-founder of the South Carolina Pride Movement, The Harriet Hancock Center provides a safe and welcoming space for South Carolina’s LGBT community and its allies.
Our facility offers a variety of resources including a free lending library, LGBT-supportive groups, a meeting space for LGBT-supportive affiliates, and a directory of LGBT-friendly businesses, organizations, and counselors. Check out our online Resource Guide for quick access to relevant and vital information. Our online Transgender Resource Guide can be accessed here or through the (M)idlands (A)rea (T)ransgender (S)upport group page under “Programs & Services“.
The Harriet Hancock Center is a volunteer-run community center. Hours of operation are dependent upon volunteer availability, but are generally in the evenings from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Mondays through Fridays with limited open times on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons. The Center is closed on all Federal and SC State Holidays, and during times of extreme inclement weather.
