About the Festival

The Outsiders Arts Festival aims to spotlight and empower the youth voices from marginalized communities.  All works are accepted with the aim of connecting across different experiences and perspectives to building understanding and solidarity among young artists.  The community is invited to listen to their stories and to learn from their experiences.  This event was made possible by funding from USC's Department of Women and Gender Studies, and working collaboratively with the folks at the Harriet Hancock LGBT Center, The Nickelodeon Theatre, Girls Rock! Columbia, and Auntie Bellum to help coordinate the amazing young artists participating in this festival.  A special thank you also goes out the USC Department of Art Education who helped coordinate with schools across Richland 1 and 2 to help fill the spaces in our gallery and on our screen.
